All nominees throughout the year have been entered for the annual Michael Rosen Award which has just been announced. To see the winners please visit the Certitude website.

The Leadership team were hugely impressed with the quality of the nominations and the diversity of the work being carried out across both organisations. Everyone nominated should be justifiably very proud of themselves.  Thank you for your commitment and thank you to those who made the nominations - for appreciating excellent work that deserves a bit of recognition!

The 246 Haymill Close Staff TeamThe 246 Haymill Close staff team recently supported someone to die peacefully and with dignity at home. Their support of this person started two years ago when they were diagnosed with a terminal illness. They have truly reflected the true meaning of the term person centred and have worked in partnership with the family and health professionals to make sure the persons wishes were respected until the end.

Chris Binger, Excellence Award WinnerChris was nominated for a couple of things including acting up as a manager at a time when the service is closing so there were a lot of anxieties for staff, families and the individuals themselves. Chris has also been working with one particular person for the last year with intensive interaction. This person’s sister told of the difference this had made to their relationship in that he now makes eye contact and holds her hand. Its felt that this change is largely due to Chris’s consistent Intensive Interaction work.

COMMUNITY CHAMPION AWARD

Nominees:

• Jake Meyer and Nicole Griffiths

Jake Meyer and Nichole Griffiths, Excellence Award WinnersAnd the winners are JAKE MEYER AND NICOLE GRIFFITHS for the brilliant work they recently undertook to ensure customers could attend, flourish and contribute to the ‘Hardest Hit’ demonstration. Jake and Nicole not only drummed up interest in the demonstration by emailing colleagues across Southside but they also provided opportunities for customers and staff to become involved in other ways. If some customers were not up to facing the throngs of people in central London, then they also had the opportunity to attend the banner and poster making workshop which was open to all customers and staff in the organisation. In this workshop they supported customers to think up slogans that they would like to use on their own banners and placards which they were then supported them to design and make themselves. They also made a large bright red Southside Banner as the focal point for the group who attended the rally on the Wednesday. Involving customers in this way was a great example ensuring ‘people are at the heart of what we do’.
