The NVQ centre is busy redeveloping as huge changes are taking place in the work based qualification sector. NVQs are being replaced by Diplomas on the new qualification curriculum framework. This page will be updated once plans are finalised. The information below is not accurate currently.
The NVQ Centre
We have an in-house NVQ centre, registered with City and Guilds to deliver the following qualifications to our staff:
- Health and Social Care Levels 2, 3 and 4
- Leadership and Management for Care Services NVQ Level 4
- A1 Assessors Award
- V1 Internal Verifiers Award
Intakes for NVQ awards:
For NVQ Levels 2 and 3 intakes are every 3 months. For NVQ level 4 and Leadership and Management for Care Services Level 4 intakes upon application.
Applications for NVQ:
Applications are only accepted from members of staff who have successfully completed their six month probationary period. Applications require a formal statement from applicant, line managers and Service Manager to support their application.
The NVQ process with Support for Living
When accepted, candidates are registered with our awarding body, City and Guilds and the Support for Living NVQ Assessment Centre. Attendance at an induction session and 5 monthly training sessions is a requirement. Each lasts approximately 2-3 hours. These sessions give candidates valuable information on how to complete the NVQ award.
You will be allocated on an NVQ if your current job description and work activities support the award you are applying for.
Each candidate is allocated an assessor (either a Support for Living employee or freelance assessor) who will assist you to produce a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your competence. Competence is demonstrated through observation of work activities by the assessor, line manager or other professionals, assessment of paperwork completed during work activities, oral and/or written accounts of work activities and answering questions.
The NVQ process is overseen by an internal verifier who will check the quality of assessment. The Quality Assurance Co-ordinator will check the quality of assessment and internal verification. All candidate feedback is welcome.
