About Support for Living

Support for Living was formed in 2007, through the merger of Ealing Consortium and Harrow Consortium for Special Needs.

Ealing Consortium was set up in 1990 and had grown to be a successful provider of social care, supported living, activity and outreach services in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hounslow and Hillingdon, with a long tradition of supporting service users to define and direct the service they received. Harrow Consortium had been responsible for a diverse network of services in the London Borough of Harrow, where the Council had approved its exciting and challenging service development and modernisation plan.

Support for Living supports over 500 people. The support is offered by around 530 staff (some of whom, in Harrow, are currently employed by other organisations).

The group’s turnover is about £19 million. We are a not for profit organisation, or non-lucrative enterprise – which means that we exist to add value for our customers, not, as with a commercial business, to make profits for shareholders. We aim to be financially strong, but any surplus we make can only be used to the long-term benefit of the people who use our services.
